Cristiano Ronaldo is currently in the midst of his worst LaLiga start since joining Real Madrid. The Portuguese is ranked 47th in goals scored with two in his account. In comparison, last season after 14 games, he was the top scorer with 10 to his name with Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Iaso Aspas chasing him on nine each.

He did manage to find the back of the net against Getafe (1-2) and against Málaga more recently (3-2) at the Bernabéu. In 2016-17, however, Ronaldo scored goals against Osasuna (5-2) and Betis (1-6) and scored two hat-tricks against Alavés (1-4) and against Atlético Madrid in the last Madrid derby at the Vicente Calderon.

The lack of scoring from the attacker is reflected in Real Madrid's standing in the league. During the current campaign, his goals have added six important points for Zinedine Zidane's side as he scored the winner against Getafe late on and converted a late penalty against Málaga when the game was poised at 2-2.

Last year, every time Ronaldo scored in those first 14 games, Real Madrid won. He failed to score in gameweek 5, 6 and 7 against Villarreal, Las Palmas and Eibar and Real Madrid drew each of those games.

Top scorer in the Champions League

It seems Ronaldo's woes in front of goals are restricted to domestic competition, however, as he remains the top scorer in the Champions League with eight goals in five games. PSG's Edinson Cavani and Neymar along with Harry Kane from Tottenha and Wissam Ben Yedder of Sevilla are trailing him on six each.
