Fabinho has spoken in a press conference regarding his future, in which he says a move to Atlético Madrid is a possibility. He said: 'In principle, it's my last season at Monaco. Atlético Madrid? 'Yes, it's a possibility, but nobody from Atletico has spoken to me or my agent. PSG or Atlético? I have to show that I'm still at the level to play in teams like that. We will see in May.'

The 24-year-old also spoke about his current level: 'I am not the same Fabinho of last season and that's what I am thinking about. To improve and help.' The midfielder was linked with a transfer in the close season after a stellar campaign in which he won the Ligue 1 title and reached the Champions League semi-finals with Monaco but in the end Fabinho decided to stay with Monaco: 'During the transfer window and even a month afterwards it was a little difficult to live with the situation. But I don't think about it anymore, I've turned the page'.

However, dispite Monaco's disappointing season and Fabinho's patchy form so far, he denies the possibility of leaving in January: 'I don't think so. I have had no contact (from other clubs) and I'm secure at Monaco. I didn't request it, I' m calm and in any case I wouldn't be able to play Champions League.' On the other hand, he still has faith to play in the 2018 World Cup: 'It's going to be difficult, the coach doesn't make many changes and there aren't many friendly games left'.
