Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to Real Madrid's Club World Cup win
Cristiano was a happy man after helping Real Madrid to a second successive Club World Cup win with victory over Gremio on Saturday.
Cristiano Ronaldo spoke of his delight after his strike saw Real Madrid defeat Gremio 1-0 in Abu Dhabi to lift their second straight Club World Cup on Saturday.
The Portuguese, whose second-half winner drew him level with Pelé on seven Intercontinental Cup/Club World Cup goals, hailed Real's first ever five-trophy haul in a calendar year, and had a word for his critics.
Real Madrid's fifth piece of silverware in 2017:
"It was a trophy that we wanted to win, and we knew we were going to come up against a good side. Real Madrid had never won five trophies in the same year, and [coach Zinedine] Zidane reminded us of that. We were bang up for it, we put in a good display and we're worthy winners."
Criticism over goal-shy domestic form:
"I always respond on the pitch. I've helped the team to win another trophy."
Heavy challenge by Gremio defender Geromel:
"I've come away with a bit of soreness, but I'm sure I'll be fine for [the match against Barcelona next] Saturday."
