Mbappé on Real Madrid game: "Of course we can win"
"If we don't believe, who will? We will work until February to be ready," said Mbappé after winning another award for his 2017 displays.
Kylian Mbappé, this year's Golden Boy, continues receiving awards for his performances last season. On Sunday, he was awarded with another by Telefoot on TF1. Mbappé adds The Best Young Player of 2017 to his resume after he beat competition from Martial (22 years old, Manchester United) and Maxime Lopez (20 years old, Olympique de Marseille). After receiving the award, he spoke to Telefoot about PSG and the Champions League clash with Real Madrid in February.
Can PSG beat Real Madrid? "Of course PSG can beat Real Madrid. If we didn't believe that, who would believe? So, of course we can do it. We know it won't be easy but we will work until February to be ready for when the moment comes."
What was your reaction to getting Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16? "I reacted in a very natural manner. I think to win the Champions League, you have to face the best teams and Real Madrid are one of the best teams. It will be a great game and it depends on us keeping our level to show our qualities."
Facing your idol, Cristiano Ronaldo: "Yes, but the main thing is the game. I represent France because we are the only French club left in the competition. So, your personal feelings come after and the most important thing is qualification."
Best moment in 2017: "I think it was the league title with Monaco and the transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, I think that these two things go in an important place for me in 2017. These are the things that allowed me to win this award. 2017 was positive, things went well. But I think that we can always do better, I try to work every day to improve things but I think that for a start, they're not bad."
The World Cup: "Of course, at the back of my mind is the World Cup. We have to think about it, I think that the World Cup is the best competition in the world for a footballer. I can't wait to be there, everyone dreams about a competition like this and I hope that we can achieve the maximum."
