Luka Modric: "I want to retire at Real Madrid"
The midfielder is looking forward to Saturday's Clásico: "We're ready and gearing up to put in a good game - let's hope we win", he told Codere.
Real Madrid's Luka Modric insists that lifting the Club World Cup has not diminished the team's hunger to win more trophies and says that Los Blancos "always want more".
The midfielder sat down to chat about the mood in the camp in the run-up to the final game of 2017 against Barcelona on Saturday. "We're in a good moment of form. We're ready for Barça and eager to put in a good game - hopefully we can win and pull a little closer to them in the table", he explained in an interview with Codere. "We'll need to be extra careful not to leave Barcelona any spaces because if you do, they have players who can punish you".
Fans have a role to play in El Clásico, says Modric
Support from the stands will be vital for Zidane's team on Saturday, as Modric knows: "The fans are always there for us, cheering us on. They'll make sure it's a great atmosphere and will give everything they've got from the stands, like we'll be doing out on the pitch", he explained.
When asked about his own plans for the future, Modric replied that if he has it his way, Real Madrid will be the last club he plays for. "Signing for Real Madrid was a dream come true. There aren't that many players who have managed to retire here but we'll see what happens with me. My wish is to retire here but things change very quickly in football", he said.
