Simeone: "Torres reflects Atlético Madrid's values to a tee"
El Cholo spoke at the Globe Soccer Awards: "Koke, Saúl, Thomas, Lucas... They've all seen what an icon Torres is and the sentiment he has with the club".
Diego Pablo Simeone was one of the guests taking part in the latest edition of the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai and spoke about what Fernando Torres means to Atlético de Madrid. The Rojiblancos coach explained that Torres "is the one who most represents the profound values which this club holds in terms of sentiment. When I was coming to the end of my playing days at Atlético, he was just emerging and on his return to Atlético he still maintains exactly the same philosophy that was drilled into him back then, which train and work hard every day... You can see it in the relationship he has with the fans. When training's over, he comes out and there's 100 people waiting for him. He will stop and sign every single autograph. And he will pose for a photo with those 100 fans. He does it because he knows what those fans feel. You can't do that if you don't understand what the club is about and what it means to the people".

Simeone added that a lot of the younger players who have come through the ranks at Atleti have been marked by the influence El Niño has had on them: "Those sentiments are passed on. Koke, Saúl, Thomas, Lucas... they've all seen what an icon Torres is and the feeling he has towards the club. Torres reflects Atlético's values to perfection".
