Roma are keen to sign Atlético Madrid right-back Juanfran. The 32-year-old's contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in June 2018, although both the player and the club are willing to sign a new deal.
Monchi to pursue Juanfran
Roma, who sit in fourth position in Serie A, have experienced problems at right-back, and sporting director Monchi and coach Eusebio Di Francesco have identified that position as an area for reinforcement in the winter transfer window.
They need a reliable player who is mobile and can contribute in attack. Juanfran fits the bill. Of the current players in his position, Rick Karsdorp is injured, Bruno Peres has failed to convince, and Alessandro Florenzi has also struggled to find form.
Juanfran no longer an automatic starter for Simeone
Juanfran enjoys a special bond with Atlético Madrid, the club he has represented since 2011. Yet the emergence of Sime Vrsaljko means his place in the team is no longer assured. Roma could take advantage of that.
