Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli visits Ángel Correa at Atleti
The Albiceleste boss watched Atlético train on the outskirts of Madrid, before chatting with Correa, Simeone, Augusto, and Germán Burgos.
Atlético Madrid has a special guest at their training session. Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli watched in Majadahonda as compatriot Diego Simeone put his team through their paces.
Ángel Correa the main focus of Sampaoli's attention
Sampaoli principally travelled to Madrid to speak with Ángel Correa, whom he sees as an exciting prospect for the national team. Sampaoli wanted to get to know the 22-year-old from Rosario face to face. Correa has scored five goals in 14 starts for Los Colchoneros.
The former Sevilla manager also spoke to Diego Simeone, Atleti coach Germán Burgos, and midfielder Augusto Fernández. The latter could be in line for a re-call to the national team although the fact that he has recently returned from a serious knee injury complicates things.
Sampaoli and his companions also met with Óscar 'El Profe' Ortega - Atlético Madrid fitness coach - to talk about Correa's training. If the nippy winger continues to impress, he may well add to his seven caps for Argentina as the World Cup draws closer.
