The 'Diego Costa effect' helps Atletico sell out the Wanda

The return of the striker has stirred the interest of Atlético fans with a scarce amount of tickets available for the forthcoming home games.

The return of Diego Costa has provided a knock-on effect on booming ticket sales at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Atletico won away to Eibar in Ipurua and now play three consecutive LaLiga games at the new San Blas based stadium after requesting that their initial 2017/18 LaLiga games be played away from home due to the ongoing construction work at their new home last August.

Simeone's men now face Girona (Saturday 20th at 16:15 CET), then welcome struggling Las Palmas (Sunday 28, 16:15) and then face Valencia on the first Sunday of February with a late 20:45 start. At present all three games look like being total sell-outs with a very limited amount of general sale tickets being available.

The Wanda Metropolitano boast a capacity of 68,000 and the average attendance for Atleti games at their new home this season has been 58,823 with the "Diego Costa" factor being a key factor in the new wave of demand to see Simeone's men in action.
