Eibar penalty appeal for Busquets shirt-tugging waved away

On 12 minutes, the home team felt they should have been awarded a spot-kick when the Barcelona midfielder hauled Kike García down by his shirt.

Eibar penalty appeal for Busquets shirt-tugging waved away

Eibar appealed for a penalty 12 minutes into this afternoon's Week 24 meeting with Barcelona at Ipurua when Sergio Busquets hauled down Kike García by his shirt when Eibar took a set-piece. The incident happened during an intense start by José Luis Mendilibar's team, who enjoyed seven attempts on goal in the first 45 minutes. Just moments after Eibar had their penalty appeal waved away, Barça swarmed down the other end of the pitch and took the lead through Luis Suárez.

Diario AS' in-house referee, Iturralde González, gave his opinion on Carrusel Deportivo: “Its six of one and half a dozen of another, Busquets is clinging onto him by the shirt and by the arm. He brings him down with a rugby tackle. Corners at Ipurua are difficult for match officials”.
