2018 has been a good year so far for Cristiano Ronaldo with the Portuguese striker rediscovering his goal scoring form and indeed coming close to his Barcelona counterpart in the top marksman ranking, Leo Messi. The player from Madeira has bagged 26 goals this season (in all competitions), one less than the Barcelona no. 10.

The early stage of the season was tricky for the Madrid player with an early season suspension meaning a delayed start for his 2017-18 campaign. Many people had written the striker off as chance after chance was spurned as his team saw Barcelona move into pole position at the LaLiga summit after losses to Betis, Girona, Barça and Villarreal.

All change in 2018 with the Portuguese forward having bagged ten goals in the past six matches and Madrid have still yet to face Leganés, Alavés and Espanyol before the end of the month.

Champions League

Cristiano has found the net 11 times during the Champions League and bagged 12 LaLiga strikes with the No. 7 also bagging a Spanish Super Cup goal along with a double during the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup staged in the UAE.

The breakdown for Messi's goals total of 27 is very league focused with 74% (20) of his total being LaLiga strikes along with three goals  in both Copa del Rey and the Champions League and one Spanish Super Cup penalty.

Despite similar strike rates for the current season, Cristiano needs less time to score bagging a goal every 97 minutes with the Argentinian international finding the target every 115’6 minutes of playing time.
