Gambia international Bubacarr Trawally joins Chinese side Guizhou Hengfeng
Trawally was the leading African scorer in the CSL last season while playing for Yanbian Funde.
Chinese Super League (CSL) side Guizhou Hengfeng FC have signed Gambia international Bubacarr Trawally from the relegated Yanbian Funde on a free transfer, reported BBC Sports on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old striker was the leading African scorer in the CSL last season, netting the ball 18 times in 28 appearances for Yanbian Funde.
Earlier this month, Trawally broke his contract with the relegated side.
Gambian star in China
Trawally moved to the CSL in 2015 when he joined Hangzhou Greentown from Gambian giants Real de Banjul.
With Greentown, he scored 17 goals to help the team gain promotion to China’s top flight before making a move to Yanbian.
In his debut CSL season in 2016, the Gambian scored eight goals helping the team to avoid relegation.
Now, at the commands of Hengfeng’s coach Gregorio Manzano, Trawally will join former Everton forward Nikica Jelavic and Spanish midfielder Mario Suarez.
Trawally has six international caps for Gambia and is currently part of the team in the on-going qualifying matches for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
