Modric: Croatia coach uneasy with Real Madrid man's situation
Luka Modric has been accused of perjury in relation to his testimony during the trial of Zdravko Mamic, and Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic is worried.
Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic expressed his concern on Monday regarding Luka Modric's legal situation. The Real Madrid midfielder has been accused of perjury by the Croatian public prosecutor's office in relation to his testimony in the trial of former Dinamo Zagreb director Zdravko Mamic.
Dalic: "Modric situation is worrying me"
"I can't intervene in what is happening, but yes, it's worrying me," said Dalic.
"Knowing Luka as I do, I'm sure that he'll take responsiblity for this and will be available when he is needed."
The trial of Mamic relates to the alleged embezzlement of up to €15 million from the sale of Dinamo players to foreign clubs, in addition to tax fraud totalling €1.5m. One of the implicated transfers is Modric's move from Dinamo for Tottenham in 2008, for a fee of around €23m.
Modric is accused of altering his testimony in relation to earlier statements he gave during the investigation.
