Real Madrid loan players round-up: Odegaard, Vinicius, De Tomás
The Santiago Bernabeu outfit will soon need to make a decision as plans for the 2018/19 season get underway.
As the 2017/18 season conclusion starts to loom, it's a perfect time to take stock on Real Madrid's loan players and look ahead to who may be in Zidane's plans next season.
Martin Odegaard. After a discreet start with his time at Dutch side Heerenveen the 18-year-old Norwegian has been in better form recently with the player being linked with a move to Leganés. His 3 million euro salary could be an obstacle for the LaLiga side for the player who is contracted to Real Madrid through to 2021.
Vinicius. The Spanish club want him to be involved in pre-season training in July as a doubt outstanding about his ability to adapt to LaLiga remains in certain quarters. His goals against Emelec in the Copa Libertadores for Flamengo may have gone some way in answering those doubters.
Lucas Silva. With a deal in place for the Brazilian that runs through to 2022, the player is something of a headache for the Bernabeu outfit. After a disappointing loan spell with Olympique Marseille, Silva is on loan with former Brazilian side Cruzeiro but has experienced a dramatic loss of form.
Fabio Coentrao. Sporting de Portugal paid 1M€ for his loan services and is a regular in the starting line-up for the Lisbon based side. “Playing at this level, he's an attractive proposition for may bug European sides”, claimed Sporting boss Jorge Jesús. His deal with Madrid runs to June 2019.
Raúl de Tomás. The striker has been one of the success stories in Spain's second tier this season hitting 18 goals in 22 starts for table topping Rayo Vallecano. He's out of contract come June 30, 2018 and Real Madrid will need to move quickly on making a decision. "Let's wait to June and see what happens, I'm not closing any doors" recently observed the striker.
Federico Valverde. A disappointing season further complicated by a serious knee injury has seen the teenager sidelined from action. Despite heading for a spell in the second tier of Spanish football, Deportivo appear to be interested in completing a purchase but Madrid are anxious that he remains playing in the top flight.
Sergio Díaz. Madrid paid 5M€ in 2016 for the Paraguayan's service who is now in action for Galician second division side CD Lugo. He suffered a serous knee injury in November that has hampered his campaign and is expected to return to Real Madrid Castllla next season.
Aleix Febas. The midfielder has been instrumental in Real Zaragoza's push for a play-off place and with his stock rising and many club's interested in the player, he claims his priority is to get the Aragon-based outfit back in the elite level of the Spanish game.
James Rodriguez. The loan move from Madrid to Bayern runs through to June 2019 and the Bundesliga side then have the option to purchase the Colombian midfielder for a price of 42 million euro. at present everything points to James staying with the Munich based side.
