Odegaard: "I'll try to finish the season well and return to Real Madrid in the summer"
The Norweigen has had to be patient since arriving at Real Madrid but eyes a preseason with Zidane's side and also accepts a loan is a possibility.
Martin Odegaard arrived at Real Madrid as a 16-year-old and one of the hottest young prospects in world football. The player was not ready, however, to jump into the side's first team and was loaned to Heerenveen in Holland where he has played 25 times this season scoring twice and adding one assist.
Currently, the footballer is with his national side, Norway, on international duty and played 12 minutes the other days against Australia. The youngster was asked about his future in the white of Madrid and he responded: "I will try to finish the season in the best way possible and return to Real Madrid in the summer for preseason training. Later, we will see what happens."
Odegaard accepts another loan is possible but wants minutes
The creative midfielder is looking towards a summer with Real Madrid but appreciates that another year on loan is a very real possibility: "The decision is not made. Another loan? It could be, but this is not the right moment to speak about it."
Whatever happens, Odegaard wants to be ensured minutes on the field to help his development. That is complicated further by the likes of Dani Ceballos, who are already struggling for minutes in Zidane's side with somewhat of a queue to get into Real Madrid's engine room. "I have always said that the important thing is to play and I want to find a club that allows me to play minutes at the highest level," he added.
Odegaard also said he doesn't regret leaving on loan for the Eredivisie: "I don't regret the decision. I accept what I choose and I am happy. I knew that I would have to have patience because Real Madrid are the best team in the world."
