'If there's one team that can beat Madrid, it's Bayern' - Rummenigge

With a potential Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League treble on the cards for the Munich club, their general manager is feeling confident.

Karl Heinz Rummenigge, director del Bayern.

Two weeks ago, Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga in Augsburg and on Tuesday confirmed their presence in the final of the DFB Pokal, the German domestic cup competition. This means, therefore, that the current objective for the Bavarian club is to make it to the Champions League final, a test that begins next Wednesday against Real Madrid.

Bayern the team to take down Real Madrid

Their semi-final tie against Los Blancos was determined in Nyon on Friday, and with just three games between them and being crowned European champions, a treble is in sight, which would be just the second in the history of the club.

And despite being drawn against the tournament favourites, Bayern's general manager, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, spoke confidently about his club's chances.

"We have to stay focused until Wednesday," he said to German paper Bild, "when we play in the Champions League."

"If there is one team that can beat Real Madrid, it's Bayern."

Champions League showdown

The 6-2 away win over Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday was "a demonstration of footballing quality," said the former Bayern and Inter Milan player who will welcome Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and co. to the Allianz Arena next Wednesday. The following Tuesday sees the return leg in the Spanish capital which will decide which of the two giants make the final in Kiev.

One player that Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes knows he cannot call upon is Arturo Vidal. The Chilean has been ruled out of the rest of the season after having surgery on his knee.
