Wass: "I can see myself playing in the Champions League"
The Denmark midfielder has opened the door to offers this summer: "If the club want to cash in on me, now is the moment."
Denmark international midfielder Daniel Wass has suggested he will leave Celta Vigo this summer in search of European football, with the Vigo-based club looking likely to miss out the final Europa League spot this season.
“I have been in Vigo for three years now and maybe something exciting will happen this summer. I can see myself playing elsewhere, maybe at a Champions League club,” Wass told Danish daily Ekstra Bladet.
The most likely destination for the 28-year-old, who has been one of Celta’s outstanding performers over the past couple of seasons, is Valencia, given that he has expressed a preference for remaining in Spain. “My family are happy here. We speak the language and we like the climate,” the player said, adding that he is “ready to take a step forward” in his career.
Wass: "I hope to have plenty of options"
The midfielder has changed his agent and hired Jonathan Barnett, who handles the affairs of Gareth Bale among others, stating that he felt he needed “a new pair of eyes on my career.”
And Wass made it perfectly clear that he would prefer to make Celta a bit of money rather than running down his contract, which expires in June 2019: “If the club want to cash in on me, this summer is the moment. Considering how I’ve been playing, I hope to have plenty of options.”
Wass’ minimum release clause stands at 25 million euros and with his experience of LaLiga, he could be tempting for either Valencia, Sevilla or Betis, who secured their place in the Europa League next season last weekend.
