Filipe Luis - "€100m for Griezmann is cheap"
Filipe Luis could not avoid the hot topic of Antoine Griezmann's future at the UEFA Europa League's Media Day before the final.
Filipe Luis faced the media ahead of the Europa League next Thursday and could not avoid the topic of Antoine Griezmann and his future as it dominated most of the press conference.
Atlético have the experience in finals in their favour, no?
"The only thing in our favour in the final is that we have more experience, many have played finals. They are different games with a lot of tension. The day before is different too. When you are playing a powerful team like Marseille, it is the only advantage that we have. After, you have to show who is better. We lost two but we have also won others."
To get to the final was one of your motivations during your injury?
"When I found out I broke my leg, I started doing calculations. It depended a lot on how I was going to be in this time. Only God knws how hard I have pushed to be here today, working morning and night in order to be available for the final. Many people thought that I pushed myself for the last game but I had belief to be in the final. For the final, I will be available and I am very proud to have overcome it, it is an example."
Will all of this affect Griezmann?
"€100 million for Griezmann is cheap, it's the truth. It will not affect him because we are not thinking about it. If he goes, it will be after the final and everyone wants to win it. The other things go after that. He is cheap and if he ends it well, it will be even moreso. This club has shown many things but it's not just Griezmann. He has been the most decisive player this season but we have helped him to be like he is. We want him to continue but what happens after the final is not connected to this."
Do you have a thorn in your side over the last finals?
I have the chance to play in Bucharest and win and after the European Super Cup, go to the Premier League, play in the Champions League final. This is different because the team wanted to get to the final of the Champions League, in 2012 we were almost fighting not to lose. We have an important squad to compete with the powerful. For many it was an obligation to get to this final but I know that it is complicated and what it has cost."
