Simeone: "All the talk around the game, leave it to the people not involved in the game"

Diego Pablo Simeone spoke to the media in Lyon ahead of his side's Europa League final against Marseille on Wednesday night. 

What sensations do you have? "We will play in a new final, where there are many feelings, emotions, belief, but above all there is humility. When you get here, you need to have humility, to work. We have to minimise their offensive assignments. They are a team with a lot of belief. It will be a lovely game, a beautiful final."

How much influence does your absence have? "We lived it with Arsenal, at home, when German was over the team. Aside from the sadness that it gives me to not be there from the start in the final, I have a great feeling with German. We know each other for a lifetime, we have similar feelings and understanding of football."

The final: "Always, when I got to a final before, I lived it with the same clarity: all that was important was the game and all of the words generated around the game, leave it to the people not involved in the game. It is obvious that all that matters is the game."

Will Marseille's biggest threat come from set-pieces? "They can play in different ways. They have offensive full-backs. Poyet imposes the ryhthym, it's a team with a manager who has done really well. It will be an intense game and we will take it to where it suits us."

How is Vitolo? "He will train with the group. It will be painful to leave someone out."

What would it mean to win the Europa League? "The Europa League is the Europa League and the Champions League is the Champions League. When we won it before, it was an important step and we took something from it. It generated something important in the group. It was a massive step and we knew the consequence would come after."

Getting rid of the ghosts of Lisbon and Milan: "We are not thinking about these situations and only what happens today. What happened before gives you experience and moments. There is a new moment that we are waiting on. Reality will dictate if we are worthy of the title."
