Sergio Ramos: "Having a chance to show we're the kings of Europe is special"
Luka Modric praised Liverpool: "They are a good team and have a good coach. They deserve to be in the final. It'll be a very difficult game, but we'll be ready”.
The Real Madrid squad took part in a publicity event organized by club sponsors Movistar in the capital this afternoon. All of the players signed shirts for the 50 guests present before asking questions on the Champions League final against Liverpool. Captain Sergio Ramos was asked what it means to be in the privileged position of contesting the trophy for the third year running, and answered: “
Reward for hard work and sacrifice
“For us, to have a new opportunity to show that we are the kings of Europe is always positive. It shows that, with hard work, sacrifice, effort and consistency over a long period of time, you can get rewarded and will allow us to experience moments like this, in which we have the chance to play in another final – and familiarize ourselves with what we have been doing over the past few seasons. We’ll try to repay our fans and bring them happiness by winning the Champions League – winning it for the third year running would be a dream. Let’s hope can do it, and bring the trophy that we want so badly home and celebrate with our people”.
Liverpool deserve to be in the final - Modric
Luka Modric also voiced his thoughts on Kiev and warned that rivals Liverpool “maybe were not among the favourites at the beginning but when you look at the games they played, I think they deserve to be in this final. What’s special about Liverpool? They have a good team, a good coach and we are expected it to be a very difficult game but we’ll be prepared”.
Marcelo and Nacho both answered the question about what qualities are required to be a Real Madrid player. For the Brazilian left-back: “Humility, hard work, team spirit and ambition”, while the centre-back, replied: “a lot of responsibility, fighting spirit and commitment”.
