Tonight Cristiano Ronaldo added to his legendary status in the city of Kiev. Everything he wanted, he's got: his third Champions League triumph in a row, and the fifth of his career. What's more, the Portuguese star fulfilled other goals in Madrid's win over Liverpool, the 13th European Cup of the Spanish side's history.

Ronaldo equal with Barcelona, Bayern and Liverpool

Ronaldo now has five Champions League trophies (one with Manchester United and four with Madrid), meaning he's level with the five European Cups of continental giants Barcelona, Bayern and Liverpool. Only Milan (7) and Real Madrid (13) have more than the Real Madrid player.

Most Champions League finals

When referee Mazic blew the whistle at 20:45, Cristiano Ronaldo became the player, alongside Paolo Maldini, who has played in the most Champions League finals in history. The former Milan captain played in six, the same as Ronaldo after this evening. The Portuguese player has now won five, only losing the final of 2008-09 with Manchester United against Barcelona. If we include the European Cup in addition to the Champions League, Gento and Maldini both played in eight finals (Maldini played six Champions Leagues and two European Cup finals), and Di Stéfano played in seven.

Cristiano Ronaldo has five European Cups alongside a very select group of players, and just one behind the six that Gento managed, the only player on that number. Behind the Real Madrid president of honour with five are: Di Stéfano, Marquitos, Zárraga, Héctor Rial, Juanito Alonso, Rafael Lesmes, Paolo Maldini, Costacurta, Seedorf and now Ronaldo.

Remarkable statements at the final whistle

At the end of the match, Ronaldo surprised by many by talking about his future, and casting doubt on whether he'll be continuing with Real Madrid. He said in a flash interview straight after the final whistle that his time at Real Madrid had been great, and he'd have more to say to his fans in the coming days.
