With 20 days to go before the Super Eagles make their Russia 2018 debut in Kaliningrad, coach Gernot Rohr will use tonight’s friendly against DR Congo in Port Harcourt as an opportunity to test fringe players as the German coach decides which men will make his final 23 man squad to make the trip to Russia.

Rohr has confirmed that both Simmy Nwankwo and Junior Lokosa will start in the front line at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium but is expected to rest the likes of Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo against a DR Congo side that travel to Nigeria missing many traditional key players such Yannick Bolasie, Cédric Bakumbu and Gaël Kakuta.

The Nigerian team has been training at their Uyo base for just under a week with a 30 man provisional squad for the tournament and Rohr is expected to only take 25 players to London for the next stage of the Super Eagles' preparation as they face England at Wembley stadium on June 2.

The German is anticipated to name his final and definitive Nigeria 23 man World Cup squad on June 3^rd ahead of the final preparation friendly match against Czech Republic on June 6^th.
