Asensio: Real Madrid youngster is going nowhere

Despite rumours of Liverpool moving for Marco Asensio this summer, the Spain international has no intention of leaving Real Madrid.

Asensio: Real Madrid youngster is going nowhere

Marco Asensio will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer.

Every transfer window brings rumours of larger and larger fees being readied by Asensio's admirers. 50m euros, 100m euros... Now, Liverpool are reportedly prepared to part with as much as 180m for the 22-year-old. But whatever the amounts supposedly being put on the table are, they are irrelevant.

Neither Real Madrid nor Asensio to listen to any offers

Asensio only has eyes for Real. The forward is determined to fulfil his lifelong dream and be a success at the Santiago Bernabéu and, as things stand, no offer - no matter how enticing - will change his mind. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have no plans to negotiate the sale of a player who is under contract until 2023 and whose release clause has been set at a prohibitive 700m euros.

Asensio did not intend to open door to move with remarks yesterday

Speaking from Spain's World Cup camp in Russia yesterday, Asensio created uncertainty over his future when asked about Liverpool's reported interest, commenting: "It's something that's come out, [but] I'm just really focused on the World Cup. The time to talk about these types of things is when it's over."

However, AS has been told that Asensio's remarks were in no way made with the intention of leaving the door open to a move to the Premier League club. He felt that the days leading up to a World Cup knockout-stage match were not the moment to discuss his future; he was not saying anything beyond that.

His only concern right now is earning himself a place in Fernando Hierro's Spain team. The interim coach could make changes after La Roja's poor display against Morocco, and Asensio wants to be ready if he gets his chance. He's not interested in talking about his future, and there is nothing to talk about.

He'll be at Real Madrid next season.
