Cristiano will pay his tax debts before leaving for Juventus
The player, who will pay off his debts to the Spanish tax authorities; he will pay 18.8 million and has accepted a two-year suspended prison sentence.
Cristiano Ronaldo is tying up all of the loose ends before bringing his time in Spain definitively to an end. The Portuguese player will shortly sign a declaration of conformity with the Spanish tax authorities. He will pay off all of his debts to the tax office after acknowledging that he failed to declare 14,768,897 million euros, has accepted an imposed fine of 18.8 million euros as well as the criminal charges brought against him by the public prosecutor, including tax evasion, which also incurs a two-year suspended prison sentence.
Tax payments to be honoured
Cristiano will not be required to sign the relevant documents in person - his legal representative José Antonio Choclán will be able to do that on his behalf. Choclán had intended to close the case before Cristiano Ronaldo signs his four-year contract with Juventus, but that has been set back by several bureaucratic problems. After being given the go-ahead by Finance Minister, María Jesús Montero, the case should be closed within the next few days.
