Young Uruguayan ace Sanabria signs with Atlétcio Madrid
Pipped to be one of the future stars of Uruguayan football, the dynamic and talented 18-year-old had trials at Liverpool and had been of interest to Barcelona.
Atlético Madrid has this Monday officially announced the signing of Juan Manuel Sanabria, who is captain of the Uruguay U-20s and is pipped to one of the future stars of Uruguayan football.
After training for the first time with his new teammates this Monday morning, Sanabria headed to the Atletico’s offices, which are still situated at the old Vincente Calderón stadium, to put his signature on a five-year contract, which will keep him at the club until he is 23 years old.
Atletico's collaboration agreement
Born in 2000, the young, left footed Uruguayan is a dynamic and talented central midfielder who can also play on the wing. In 2015, he was on trial with Liverpool and his agent had maintained contact with Barcelona.
But in the end he has signed for Atlético Madrid, which has a collaboration agreement with the National Club of Uruguay. The agreement gives Atlético first preference to promising talent at the Uruguayan club, in exchange for an undisclosed fee. And Sanabria’s move has been facilitated by the agreement.
