Real Madrid: The strikers they could sign - Cavani, Kane...

Real Madrid have a few alternatives open to them as they look to add a striker to their squad for the coming season. These are the options...

Edinson Cavani. Open to offers

Club: Paris Saint-Germain. Age: 31. Under contract until: 2020

The Paris Saint-Germain star would be highly receptive to an offer from Real Madrid. Now 31, he knows this is, in all likelihood, his last chance to fulfil his dream of playing at the Bernabéu. His name is on Real's summer shopping list and, although the club is yet to make contact with the player's camp, they are well aware of his openness to a move to the Spanish capital. Last year, he scored 40 goals in 48 games for PSG, having hit 49 in 50 the previous season. What's more, the presence of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé in the PSG team has left Cavani somewhat playing second fiddle, with the Uruguayan memorably clashing with the former over free-kick and penalty-taking duties that had been his territory.

Rodrigo Moreno. A striker Lopetegui knows and trusts

Club: Valencia. Age: 27. Under contract until: 2022

Rodrigo Moreno has two key factors playing in his favour: he knows Real Madrid well, having come through the club's youth ranks, and has the complete trust of Julen Lopetegui. Playing under Los Blancos' new coach, the striker became Spain Under-21s' then-record goalscorer during qualifying for the 2013 European Under-21 Championship in Israel, which La Rojita went on to win. Last season, Rodrigo bagged 19 goals in 44 appearances for Valencia, earning him a spot in Spain's squad for the World Cup in Russia. His release clause is 120 million euros, but Los Che are thought to be willing to let him leave if a bid of around 70 or 80 million euros comes in.

Robert Lewandowski. Bayern not listening to offers

Club: Bayern Munich. Age: 29. Under contract until: 2021

The Pole has never hidden his desire to play for Real Madrid one day - although a major obstacle towards that is the fact that his club, Bayern Munich, are refusing to listen to offers for the striker. He even changed agents earlier this year with a view to making a move to the Bernabéu happen, but in recent months the chances of him going to Madrid have diminished, chiefly because Los Merengues are unwilling to countenance a major financial outlay on a player who isn't enjoying the greatest period of his career. Though he did net 41 times for Bayern in 2017/18, Lewandowski was roundly panned in the German media for his performances in the Bavarians' Champions League semi-final exit to Real.

Harry Kane. Real doubtful about ability to settle in Spain

Club: Tottenham Hotspur. Age: 24. Under contract until: 2024

Having only just renewed Kane's contract until 2024, Tottenham appear highly unlikely to be persuaded to part with the England captain. Real Madrid would have to make an eye-watering offer to have a hope of prising him from North London - but, with the LaLiga giants unsure about how he would adapt to Spanish football, that is a course of action that the decision-makers at the Bernabéu aren't convinced about. His attributes fit perfectly with the style of the Premier League, but there are doubts about whether Kane would have the same impact in a white shirt. That has led the European champions' interest to cool and, despite his World Cup Golden Boot, they are not currently considering moving for him.
