Former Legia Warsaw boss and Croatia technical director Romeo Jozak has been appointed coach of the Kuwait national team, the 45-year-old has revealed on Twitter.

Will also oversee Kuwait's Olympic side

Jozak has penned a two-year deal and will also take charge of the country's Olympic team.

"Just signed a two year contract with the Kuwait FA as a Head Coach of the 'A' and 'Olympic' team," he wrote.

Jozak worked with the Croatian federation until the first quarter of 2017 before a seven-month spell at Legia Warsaw, which ended when he was sacked in April.

Jozak's first task will be to qualify Kuwait for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo via the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship, with the hosts of this tournament yet to be confirmed.

Kuwait returning from international ban

Currently, Kuwait are trying to re-establish themselves on the international football scene after a two-year absence.

A Fifa imposed ban, which was put in place in late 2015 due to political interference in the Kuwait Football Association's affairs, was lifted eight months ago.

Due to this ban, Kuwait were kicked out of qualifying for both the 2018 World Cup finals and the 2019 Asian Cup.
