Atlético Madrid: Kalinic signs for LaLiga club

Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the transfer of Niko Kalinic. The 30-year-old Croatian joins the Rojiblancos on a three-year deal. Among Kalinic's qualities are his physical strength and aerial power - he also has vast experience of playing on the European stage.

Well travelled

Born in 1988, Kalinic came up through the youth ranks at Hajduk Split. After brief loan spells at NK Istra and HNK Sibenik, he returned to Split to make his first team debut in 2007. He became a first choice in the team's attack, scoring 33 goals over the next two seasons.

In 2009 he signed a four-year deal with Blackburn Rovers but only completed half of his contract at Ewood Park. His next stop was Ukrainian outfit Dnipro where he scored 49 goals in 125 matches and helped the team reach the 2015 Europa League final which the team lost 2-3 to Sevilla. He signed for Fiorentina later that summer and went on to hit 33 goals and set up another 11 during his first two years in Serie A. Last season was spent on loan at AC Milan with whom he made 41 appearances.
