Boca Juniors reject Barcelona's offer for Belardi
Boca Juniors have turned down the 4-million-euro offer for Belardi, but Barcelona still have their eye on another promising young Boca talent.
Boca Juniors has turned down Barcelona’s formal offer of 4 million euros for Leo Belardi. The Argentinean club value the young starlet, a product of their youth setup, much higher and are unwilling to let him go at that price.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his debut for the first team, but forms part of the lower ranks of coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s squad.
Barcelona are also interested in another Boca home-grown youngster, Agustín Almendra. The 18-year-old is captain of Argentina’s U-20s, which recently competed at the L'Alcúdia U-20s International Football Tournament in Spain.
Almendra is highly regarded amongst Boca’s coaching staff and is now seen as an important player in the first-team squad, for which he made three appearances last season. In fact, he is tipped to be named in Schelotto's starting 11 for the game against Huracán this weekend.
