If Real Madrid are to successfully defend the title they have claimed for the past three seasons, they will need to overcome Mexico's Guadalajara or the Asian Champions League winner in the semi-final.

The other semi will see the COMNEBOL winner face the winner of Match 2 as Al Ain/Wellington clash with the winners of the African Champions League.
