Keagan Dolly: South Africa star undergoes successful surgery
The Montpellier midfielder sustained a serious injury to his calf bone during a Ligue 1 match with Strasbourg on Saturday.
South Africa star Keagan Dolly underwent a successful operation on his fractured fibula yesterday.
The Montpellier midfielder is set to be out for several weeks and could miss Bafana Bafana's upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Seychelles and Nigeria.
Dolly, 25, sustained an injury to his calf bone during Montpellier's 1-1 draw with Strasbourg in a Ligue 1 match on Saturday.
"Keagan Dolly had a successful surgery yesterday. We wish him a speedy recovery," Montpellier announced late on Monday.
Big blow to Bafana Bafana
South Africa have crucial back-to-back fixtures against Seychelles in October and Nigeria in November.
Currently, they are second in Afcon qualifying Group E with four points, and are two goals behind Libya - the group leaders - on the goal difference.
Since his first call-up in 2013, Dolly has scored two goals in 14 appearances for his country. He captained the team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
He joined Montpellier from Mamelodi Sundowns midway through the 2016/17 season for a fee of around $2 million, making it one of the most expensive transfers in South African football history.
