Ronaldo: "Our plan is to take Valladolid from regional to global"
The new maximum shareholder of Real Valladolid spoke at the World Football Summit alongside Carlos Suárez and Julio Senn about his new venture.
A presentation from Ronaldo Nazario brought the curtain down on the third edition of the World Football Summit staged in the Spanish capital where the Brazilian offered his thoughts on his latest venture after becoming leading shareholder in LaLiga side Real Valladolid. The former player was joined by club president Carlos Suárez and Julio Senn who was instrumental in seeing the deal materialise.
The words "hope" and "work" featured heavily as the Brazilian spoke about how the venture came about, his knowledge of the global football market and his high media profile were two key aspects he deemed were important in driving Valladolid forward.
Social side
The Brazilian was also keen to focus on the social aspect of his involvement with the Castilla y Leon based outfit stressing that: "The good world that football does, so often gets overlooked. It's a massive tool that can be used in a positive way for society".
Immediate objectives
The former player was also anxious to contextualise the project requesting "patience" from the fans of the club. "I'm aware that I've not purchased the history of Real Valladolid or the emotion of the fan base, I've just bought the rights to manage the day to day side of the business. This comes with much responsibility for me and whilst I don't want to dampen enthusiasm, we need to realise that a project of this nature needs time to develop and securing top flight stays is key to things moving forward".
"Our plan is to take Valladolid from being a regional club to having an international profile and we're already planning a central office in Madrid. I'd like to invite you all to come to see us play, to enjoy the countryside and taste some of the best wine in the world. I look forward to seeing you all in in Valladolid", concluded "O Fenomono".
