Julen Lopetegui has announced a 19-player squad for the derby against Atlético with Marcelo out injured and Odriozola omitted.
Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has announced a 19-player squad for the derby against Atlético Madrid with Álvaro Odriozola a surprise omission.
Marcelo is injured and may miss Real’s next three fixtures, which has opened the door for 21-year-old academy graduate Sergio Reguilón to make his debut, although it is likely Nacho will start at the game at right back.
The Spain international did not enjoy one of his finer outings in the 3-0 defeat against Sevilla and the returning Dani Carvajal will take his place on the right of the back four after sitting out the game in the Sánchez Pizjuán with a knock.
Also included in Lopetegui’s squad is 18-year-old Brazilian Vinicius Junior, who has yet to make his eagerly awaited debut for the senior side.
Real Madrid squad for the derby:
Navas, Casilla, Courtois, Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Reguilón, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Ceballos, Llorente, Asensio,Vázquez, Vinicius Jr, Mariano, Bale, Benzema.
