Cristiano omitted from Portugal squad as Eder returns
Portuguese sports daily A Bola maintain the Juve player spoke with the head of the federation Fernando Gomes and coach Santos requesting not to be selected in October and November.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature for the Portuguese national team as they face Poland in the UEFA Nations League on October 11th and then face Scotland on October 14th in a friendly match.
Fernando Santos confirmed the 23-man-squad this morning and maintained "in the future, nothing prevents Cristiano from giving his input to the national team". Lisbon based sports daily "A Bola" reported how the Madeira born striker contacted the Portuguese Federation and spoke with both president Fernando Gomes and national team first coach Santos requesting to be omitted from international duty during the months of October and November.
The return of Lokomotive Moscow striker Eder, the hero of the European title win in 2016 is the major surprise recall and he joins the recently injured Danilo Pereira in being recalled to the national side.
