Mbappé Football Leaks: PSG star's astronomical contract demands
When negotiating with the Ligue 1 giants the France international made a series of incredible requests, most of which were denied by the club.
The Football Leaks documents published on Wednesday by Der Spiegel regarding the full details of Kylian Mbappé’s transfer from Monaco to PSG in 2017 include an astonishing set of demands made by the then 18-year-old France forward.
Among the most eye-catching was the stipulation on the part of Mbappé’s family, who also act as his representatives, that financial compensation be provided should PSG be excluded from the Champions League over Financial Fair Play issues. The Ligue 1 giants had signed Neymar earlier in the summer and Mbappé’s family sought assurances that they would be remunerated in the event that a Uefa probe resulted in the harshest sanction available for clubs that flout the rules being imposed.
Mbappé's Ballon d'Or salary demand: more cash than Neymar
Mbappé also wanted a clause inserted into his deal that would automatically make him the club’s highest-paid player if he were to win the Ballon d’Or. The France international, who won the World Cup with Les Bleus last summer, has a deal worth 50 million euros over five seasons, considerably less than the club’s biggest earner, Neymar, who has a salary in excess of 30 million euros a year.
Unsurprisingly, the club rejected both demands out of hand.
In addition, the teenaged forward wanted the use of a private jet for 50 hours a year, with PSG instead offering 30,000 euros a month to fund Mbappé’s personal staff, which includes a butler, a chauffeur and a bodyguard.
Mbappé’s father, Wlifrid, also requested permission to attend PSG training sessions, another idea that the club’s board firmly denied.
