River-Boca return leg at the Monumental already sold-out
River Plate and Boca Juniors will contest the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final in front of a full house with the score standing at 2-2.
The last remaining tickets for the return leg of the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors were snapped up this week. The two Argentine teams meet for a second time at El Monumental on Saturday 24 November with the score locked at 2-2.
Monumental at full capacity for return leg
Tickets were made available through the web and sales were staggered. The final stage ended on Wednesday night, and all tickets were sold in just a few hours, the club confirmed. Some fans who went to collect their tickets from the Monumental booking office in Buenos Aires reported of gangs lying in wait to jump supporters and steal their tickets. Others complained that the web page for buying tickets kept collapsing due to the demand.
The Antonio Vespucio Liberti stadium, more commonly known as El Monumental, has a capacity of 66.000. The most expensive tickets cost 3.200 pesos (78 euros) and the club is expecting record receipts of close to 100 million pesos (2.3 million euros). Ahead of the first leg, Boca Juniors experienced problems with ticket sales to their season ticket holders, many of whom were left without tickets and some protested at the Bombonera gates in the run-up to the match.
Like the first leg, the return leg will only be attended by home fans - a decision taken by the directors at both clubs.
