One has to go back to February 14th, 2010 for the last time Atletico Madrid overcame FC Barcelona in the league at their Vicente Calderon home. The Catalan side have become something of a "bogey" side for coach Diego Simeone with his Atleti team securing two draws and six defeats in the past eight meetings in the Spanish capital.

On that day Quique Sanchez Flores was on the Calderon bench as goals from Diego Forlan and Simao were enough to secure three points for "Los Colchoneros" at home.

Recent meetings between both sides have seen tense close encounters with one goal the difference between the sides in the recent Barça wins in Madrid. It's been a different story however in meetings between Atleti and Barça in the Champions League where the side form the capital eliminated the Catalan outfit on their last two European confrontations in both the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons.
