Odriozola or Carvajal is the question for Solari against Eibar
Alvaro Odriozola has been excellent in place of Carvajal with more crosses and more successful crosses but Carvajal returns against Eibar on Saturday.
Santiago Solari has been forced into a number of decisions since taking over from Julen Lopetegui on Real Madrid's bench with several players being affected by the change. The first one was awarding the first choice spot to Thibaut Courtois. Then, he incorporated Vinicius into the team despite very little playing time to start the season. After that, he left Isco on the bench four times and has given Asensio a role on the bench too as he went about reshaping the hierarchy of the squad.
His next big decision comes on Saturday afternoon when he must decide between Dani Carvajal, who has been out since the start of October due to injury, and Alvaro Odriozola, who has performed at a very high standard since the Argentina took over.
Decisions to be made by Solari
The right-back arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu during the summer for €30 million and with Lopetegui in charge, he only play 21% of minutes. During Solari's short reign of four games, Odriozola and Reguilon have improved and played much more with injuries forcing the changes. Reguilon is currently out injured and Marcelo will return on Saturday but the Carvajal versus Odriozola debate has not been figured out just yet.
Odriozola has played less than his competition but his statistics are similar to the long-serving Carvajal. He sends more crosses in with one every 15 minutes and also has more success finding teammates from those crosses at 23%. He doesn't dribble as often but the team concedes less with him in the line-up. Real Madrid won't lose too much with either but Solari has another big choice to make on LaLiga's return after the international break.
