Daniel Correa's mother pleads for justice in emotional video

The Daniel Correa murder case continues to grip Brazil.

The former Sao Paolo player was tortured, mutilated and stabbed to death on the night he attended a party at the home of the Brittes family at the beginning of November. So far, seven people have been arrested in relation to the murder investigation, including the accused killer Edison Brittes and his wife Cristina. The married couple have claimed that Correa tried to rape Cristiana Brittes at their home on the night of the murder, something that the authorities later ruled out.

Now the mother of the deceased footballer, Eliana Correa, has asked for justice to be served to those involved in her son’s murder in a heartfelt video message on social media.

"I would like to ask for justice so that the people who tortured and killed my son are not let loose. They did it to one person and they could make another family suffer – make another mother suffer,” said Correa.

"Since I cannot have my son back, I would like to ask that those people be sentenced to the fullest extent of the law and that my son's honour be preserved...that they be punished with the maximum force of the law.”

Cristiana Brittes has asked to be released from prison in order to take care of her eleven-year-old daughter – something which Correa also cited in her message.

"The mother who helped in that barbarity wants to be free to take care of her daughter,” said Correa. “And now who is going to take care of my son's daughter? This girl will grow up without a father. And my son, despite his age, took care of her. How am I going to take care of her if they have taken the life of her father?”
