Fiorentina honour Nelson Mandela with special tribute shirt
The "Viola" will wear the special commemorative shirt for the Serie A game against league leaders Juventus at their Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Serie A side Fiorentina will take to the field tonight in a special shirt commemorating the year in what would have been the 100th birthday of inspirational South African political figure Nelson Mandela. The anti-apartheid leader was born in July 1918 and died in Johannesburg on December 5th 2013.
The initiative was presented to the media by first team coach Stefano Pioli and vice-president of the club Gino Salica who confirmed that the shirts would be auctioned online on Monday with proceedings going to charity. The shirts feature the slogan "2018 Nelson Mandela Centenary: Be the Legacy" and Mandela's trademark raised fist.
Ninth placed Fiorentina face a tough task as table topping and unbeaten this season in Serie A Juventus are the visitors at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
