Kovacic won't return to Real Madrid: Spurs, Chelsea in the race

Real Madrid are disappointed with the Croatian midfielder's attitude and are planning to sell him as Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea line him up.

Mateo Kovacic, as the situation currently stands, has very little chance of returning to Real Madrid. Practically none. As can report that the club are very disappointed with the Croatian's behaviour during the summer and have decided to listen to offers for the midfielder. Conversations have already begun regarding his future.

Chelsea are currently the club with the clear advantage to sign the 24-year-old and his loan deal ends in June 2019 but they want him to remain beyond the summer. The player is not opposed to that idea and has enjoyed his start to life in London. Relations between the clubs are good with Alvaro Morata and Thibaut Courtois switching allegiance in recent years.

How much does Kovacic cost?

The question of price has popped up with Real Madrid paying €30 million for his services in 2015. They feel his development and performances have added to that number and they want more than their initial outlay.

They are not, however, the only team interested in the Croatian. Tottenham have also declared their interest and will push for his signature.

Regardless of where he goes, Real Madrid are upset with his behaviour and would prefer a permanent move away rather than a return to the Bernabéu.
