Chelsea fan denies racially abusing Raheem Sterling

Speaking with English news outlet the Daily Mail, the suspended season ticket holder claims that what he shouted was misunderstood.

Update:
Chelsea fan denies racially abusing Raheem Sterling

The Chelsea fan that was sanctioned for shouting racial abuse towards Manchester City player Raheem Sterling has denied that there was any element of racism.

"Deeply ashamed"

60-year-old Colin Wing spoke with the Daily Mail:

“I’m deeply ashamed by my own behaviour and I feel really bad. But I didn’t call him a black cunt, I called him a Manc cunt.

“I’ve been going to Chelsea for 50 years now and, because of where I sit, I’m picked up on the camera most weeks. If I had a history of saying this sort of thing I would’ve been caught by now.

“I offer him an unreserved apology. Even if it wasn’t racist, it’s not right what I said.”

The Metropolitan police have said that they "continue to review footage and CCTV to determine whether any offences have been committed." Although no arrests have yet been made, Chelsea have suspended four people from going to games at Stamford Bridge.
