Navas could start his last game of 2018 against CSKA
With Madrid already through as leaders of the group, Solari may start out-of-favour Keylor Navas for what would likely be his last game of the year.
With Madrid mathematically safe at the top of Group G, Santiago Solari may opt to rest his first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and start with Keylor Navas for Real Madrid's Champions League clash against CSKA on Wednesday, which would likely be the Costa Rican’s last game of 2018.
Unless Courtois picks up an injury or suspension in the meantime, Navas is unlikely to start another game until January's fixture in last 16 of the Copa del Rey, the only competition in which he has played a part since Solari took over as coach at the end of October (that fixture will be played on either the January 8, 9 or 10).
Although the Costa Rican has amicably acted as a professional at all times and never expressed his frustrations publically, he is deeply unhappy with his situation at the club since Courtois arrived this summer, and even more since the arrival of Solari, under whom he has almost completely been taken out of the picture.
