Barça begin search to find Suárez's replacement

With Luis Suárez now 32, Barcelona have begun to comb the market for young players with the potential to take the baton from the Uruguayan goalscorer in the near future.

Barça begin search to find Suárez's replacement

A few weeks ago, Luis Suárez stated that he “would understand” if Barcelona began the search for a centre forward to replace him in the future. The level-headed Uruguayan recognized that he is “beginning to age” (he is 32 years old) and that the club was in its right to comb the market for younger talent.

Barcelona’s sporting direction began looking at several young attacking options to bring in. And today Barcelona daily Mundo Deportivo has highlighted five potential Suárez replacements on its front cover: Timo Werner (Leipzig) Luka Jovic (Frankfurt), Maxi Gómez (Celta Vigo), Kasper Dolberg (Ajax) and Krysztof Piatek (Genoa).

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s other big sports daily, Sport, has also focused on transfer market options in its opening pages, highlighting Chelsea’s Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who, a few seasons ago, played against Barça in the Champions League against Borussia Monchengladbach and would provide fitting cover for Samuel Umtiti.
