Real Madrid have been forced to make a last-minute change to their 23-man squad for the Club World Cup. Los Blancos will face Kashima in the semi-finals of the competition without Mariano, who has been forced to drop out of the squad with a muscle injury. As a result, Vallejo has been included in the striker's place. The centre-back had been left out of this competition for the second year running but travelled with the Madrid camp as a back-up.

Injuries

Real were able to make the change 24 hours before their first game, with Mariano training alone in Tuesday's training session. The change was communicated to FIFA directly aftwerwards. Bale and Asensio were two other players struggling for fitness but both have been given the green light to play and the Welshman could be named in the starting line-up.
