David Alaba: "If Lucas wasn't a good player, Bayern wouldn't be interested in him"
Bayern Munich's Austrian defender recognized the Atlético de Madrid player's quality and says he would provide competition for the left-back position.
In Spain and in Germany there is great speculation to see how the Lucas Hernández case pans out. At Bayern Munich, one player has already given the Atlético de Madrid defender his blessing. David Alaba told a Sport Bild, "Of course he's a good player - Bayern wouldn't be interested in him if he wasn't. He's a player who could help us".
Versatility in defence
Alaba added that Lucas' arrival would affect him directly. The 26-year-old plays at left-back but can also be fielded in the centre of the park. If Lucas does end up joining Bayern, he could be an alternative at left-back as well as being used in central defence. "I'm comfortable playing at left-back but I don't mind being move to midfield is need be", Alaba continued.
Atlético have taken steps to ensure Lucas doesn't leave during the current transfer window and according to Bild, have arranged to open talks with Bayern in the summer and begin negotiations for the player, who is valued at 80 million euros.
