Keylor Navas returns to the side for the Copa del Rey
The keeper returns to the starting line-up 34 days after his last game. Several Premier League clubs are interested in him and Real Madrid would be willing to let him leave.
Keylor Navas makes his return to Real Madrid's starting line-up in tonight's Copa del Rey tie against Leganés at the Bernabéu como titular del Madrid. The Costa Rican, who has been demoted to the role of second choice keeper under Santiago Solari, returns to the side 34 days after his last appearance - also in the Cup: the 6-1 win over Melilla in the last round on 6 December. Since then, the keeper has watched all of Madrid's game from the subs' bench. Curiously, tonight's game will be his 150th appearance during his five seasons at the Bernabéu. It will also be his fifth home game of the campaign - he has played just one league game at home (the Week 1 meeting with Getafe back in August), two in the Champions League and one in the Cup. With Keylor in the team, Madrid have conceded just two goals at home - and one of those was a penalty.
Interest from England
Tonight's tie will be special for Navas because, despite having signed a one-year contract extension (taking him to 2021), it will be another chance for him to showcase his talents tp prospective buyers during the winter transfer window. He is one of the players who could leave the club this summer and has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs. Madrid would be willing to let him leave to make way for Andriy Lunin. His recent contract revision was the club's way of recognizing the efforts Keylor has made over the past four and a half years. The 32-year-old, who was an undisputed first choice under Zidane, has seen how now, the Copa del Rey is his only chance of getting regular playing time.
