In France, newspaper Le Parisien reports that PSG coach Thomas Tuchel is desperate to sign a central midfielder before the close of the January transfer window and has been given resources by the club’s owners to do so.

With Krychowiak and Lo Celso on loan until the end of the season, Lass set to leave the club, and Rabiot benched indefinitely due to his refusal to sign a new contract, Tuchel currently has just one natural midfielder available, Marco Verratti.

As a result, the coach has had to improvise, using Marquinhos, Draxler, and even Dani Alves in the midfield role, which has served as a temporary and successful band aid for PSG in Ligue 1.

But with the more difficult upcoming Champions League ties against Liverpool, Tuchel has travelled to Qatar to ask for cash for reinforcements, publicly stating: "I went to Qatar and took every opportunity to convince the President, the Emir and the sports director, even during my vacation."

Tuchel given 30 million euros to find midfielder

And it seems that his efforts have paid off, as the club’s Qatari owners have agreed to give him 30 million euros to sign a player to fill the central midfield position – a figure well below the money PSG have become used to throwing around on top players, but nevertheless enough to bring in a quality midfielder.

As such the club now has their eye on three targets before the end of January. First is German 23-year-old Julian Weigl of Borussia Dortmund – a player who has been previously been pursued by Real Madrid and Barcelona. The second is Everton’s Senegalese international Idrissa Gueye, a more defensively minded player than the others on the list. And finally, Napoli’s Allan, who has already had a call up to national duty with Brazil.

However, as Le Parisien points out, PSG will have to work harder to land one of these targets, as it would be difficult to convince their respective clubs to let them go for anything less than 40 million euros.
