AS has been told that Madrid can expect a real battle for the signature of Christian Eriksen, who is a long way from agreeing a new Spurs contract.
Real Madrid have their sights set on Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract at Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 and currently appears a long way from agreeing to extend his deal at the Premier League club. However, AS understands that Los Blancos would face fierce competition for the Dane's services were they to make their move for him once and for all.

"It's hard to name just one particular top-level club who are keeping a close eye on him," sources close to Eriksen said, "because there are sides from England, Spain, Italy and Germany." This Europe-wide interest in the 26-year-old is nothing new: while still a youth player in Denmark, the likes of AC Milan and Barcelona came knocking on his door, before clubs such as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were keen to snap him up when he was at Ajax.

And although Madrid "could be the first option" if Eriksen - described by those close to him as "very ambitious" - does leave Tottenham, he is again set to have a host of major clubs chasing his signature. At Barça, the midfielder is seen as an ideal addition to the Blaugrana's post-Andrés Iniesta engine room, while he has also attracted interest from Spurs' London rivals Chelsea.
