Suárez goal leaves Cuéllar needing treatment
Barcelona went ahead 2-1 against Leganés when Luis Suárez converted a rebound.
Luis Suárez's goal to give Barcelona a 2-1 lead at the Camp Nou against Leganés in LaLiga this evening caused controversy with goalkeeper Cuéllar needing treatment after the Uruguayan striker made contact with his studs on the keeper's arm before kneeing him in the face.
Suárez follows through on keeper after scoring
The incident happened after a wonderful move and shot from Messi had forced Cuéllar into a full-stretch save. The ball fell just in front of the keeper who was on the ground after making the stop. Before the Leganés stopper could reach the ball Luis Suárez pounced making contact with the ball to force it home before following through into Cuéllar, his studs making contact with the goalkeeper's arm before his knee colllided with his face. While the striker got the ball it appeared to be reckless given there was no way he could do so without making contact with the opposition player.
Referee Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea however saw no infringement from Suárez and allowed the goal to stand, to disbelief from the Leganés players. Cuéllar required attention from the Leganés medical staff though he was able to carry on.
